Caribes Remain Undefeated in Epic Battle and
Gigantes de Adjuntas Celebrate First Victory
SAN
SEBASTIÁN, Puerto Rico, November 6, 2025. – In a night full of
excitement in the Men’s Superior Volleyball League (LVSM), the
Caribes de San Sebastián defended their undefeated record in a
dramatic five-set thriller against the Patriotas de Lares at the
Luis Aymat Cardona Coliseum. Meanwhile, in Guaynabo, the Gigantes de
Adjuntas earned their first win of the season by defeating the Mets
in four sets.
San Sebastián Survives Lares’ Comeback Effort
In
the much-anticipated clash of unbeaten teams, the Patriotas de Lares
fought bravely but fell just short in their attempt to steal the
road victory. After dropping the first two sets, Lares responded in
the third: Jair Santiago broke a 23-all tie with an attack from zone
two, and after ties at 24, 25, and 26, consecutive errors by
Pelegrín Vargas Jr. and Mark Frazier gave the set to the Patriotas.
The
fourth set was another thriller. Lares reached set point at 24-22
after a service error from Vargas Jr. and closed it 25-22 with a
block on Frazier, forcing the decisive fifth set.
In
the tiebreak, San Sebastián pulled ahead 8-4 thanks to an attack
error by Santiago and a block from Howard García on Pablo Guzmán.
The Caribes sealed the 15-9 victory with a free swing from Ezequiel
Cruz from zone four.
The
Caribes’ offense was led by Pelegrín Vargas Jr. with 20 points,
followed by Corey Chavers with 18 and Mark Frazier with 11. For
Lares, Jair Santiago scored 21 points, Pablo Guzmán 17, Nick West
15, and Garrett Muagututia 12.
San
Sebastián remains undefeated with a 6-0 record and 15 accumulated
points. Lares, although falling to 5-1, earned one point and also
has 15 total points.
Scores: 25-23, 25-22, 26-28, 22-25, 15-9.
Adjuntas Climbs Out of the Basement, Sinks the Mets
At
the Mario “Quijote” Morales Coliseum, the Gigantes de Adjuntas
celebrated their first win of the season after five consecutive
losses. With a balanced offense, William Rivera and Cristian
Encarnación each contributed 16 points, while Heriberto Maldonado
and Roberto Pérez added 10 points apiece.
With
this victory, Adjuntas claimed all three available points, climbing
to seventh place with 5 accumulated points and a 1-5 record.
Guaynabo, on the other hand, drops to the last position with a 1-5
record and 4 points.
For
the Mets, Inovel Romero stood out with 21 points in the losing
effort.
