“It feels good, it’s nice to be back competing in NORCECA,” said Carly.
About the gold medal match she expressed “in the first set we were
making a lot of plays but no converting on them but luckily we had
enough to overtake the first set and then we found our rhythm”.
Devanne said, “this is my first NORCECA ever and winning a gold medal is
very fun in such a nice atmosphere”. Speaking about their performance
she added that they had to really turn on their minds, “in the days
before we didn’t have much of a challenge so it was hard mentally to
make sure we were both ready to play, we did good in the semifinals
against the other Americans and then we needed to work on some small
things for to keep it up in this last match”.
In the all-USA semifinal, Carly Kan and Devanne Sours bounced back from
losing the first set to beat Jade Race and Kaely Crews 2-1 (20-22,
21-18, 15-9).
