Islands Volleyball Federation Elects Woman-Led Board as CAZOVA
Reaches Eight Female Federation Presidents
GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands, February 1, 2026.- The Cayman Islands
Volleyball Federation (CIVF) proudly announces the election of its
new Board, led by Shakeina Bush as President. Her appointment marks
a significant milestone for the Federation and further highlights
the growing strength of women’s leadership in Caribbean volleyball.
This achievement is underscored at the regional level, as the
Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association (CAZOVA) now boasts eight
women presidents among its fourteen national federations—an
inspiring testament to progress, inclusivity, and excellence in
sport governance.

The elections were held during an Extraordinary General Meeting of
the Federation’s membership on January 31, 2026.
The meeting and election process were conducted in the presence of
Mushtaque Mohammed, President of the Caribbean Zonal Volleyball
Association (CAZOVA) and NORCECA Vice President, who attended as an
official observer and oversaw the proceedings to ensure they were
carried out in accordance with good governance practices.
During the meeting, members elected the following individuals to
serve on the Executive Committee and Board of Administration of the
Federation:

In addition, the following members were elected to serve on the
Board of Administration:Andrae Bailey, Jossanna Smith and Shaela Rae
At the conclusion of the elections, two positions on the Board of
Administration remained vacant. The newly elected President issued a
call for interested members to put themselves forward over the
following three-week period. A number of individuals have since
expressed interest and will be considered for appointment, with
final selections to be confirmed at a later date.
The Federation also acknowledged the presence of former President
Kennedy McGowan, who attended the Extraordinary General Meeting. Mc
Gowan, who resigned late last year due to personal reasons, extended
his congratulations to the newly elected Board and encouraged all
members to work collaboratively in the best interests of the sport,
toward the sustained growth and success of volleyball in the Cayman
Islands.
Mohammed congratulated the New Board on behalf of NORCECA’s
President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz and offer the ongoing support of
the Institutions of NORCECA and CAZOVA to the newly elected board of
CIVF and encourage them to keep the ball flying in Cayman Islands
and work “together as one” which are the watchwords of FIVB.
In accordance with the Federation’s Constitution, the newly elected
Board will serve until 2028, the year of the next Summer Olympic
Games, at which time a new Board will have the opportunity to be
elected by the membership.
The Cayman Islands Volleyball Federation looks forward to the
contributions of the newly elected Board and remains committed to
the continued growth, development, and governance of volleyball in
the Cayman Islands. |
