Cayman Islands Volleyball Federation Elects Woman-Led Board as CAZOVA Reaches Eight Female Federation Presidents

GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands, February 1, 2026.- The Cayman Islands Volleyball Federation (CIVF) proudly announces the election of its new Board, led by Shakeina Bush as President. Her appointment marks a significant milestone for the Federation and further highlights the growing strength of women’s leadership in Caribbean volleyball.

This achievement is underscored at the regional level, as the Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association (CAZOVA) now boasts eight women presidents among its fourteen national federations—an inspiring testament to progress, inclusivity, and excellence in sport governance.

The elections were held during an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Federation’s membership on January 31, 2026.

The meeting and election process were conducted in the presence of Mushtaque Mohammed, President of the Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association (CAZOVA) and NORCECA Vice President, who attended as an official observer and oversaw the proceedings to ensure they were carried out in accordance with good governance practices.

During the meeting, members elected the following individuals to serve on the Executive Committee and Board of Administration of the Federation:

Executive Committee

President: Shakeina Bush

Vice President: Deajra Tulloch

Secretary: Troy Alleyne

Treasurer: Casey Santamaria

In addition, the following members were elected to serve on the Board of Administration:Andrae Bailey, Jossanna Smith and Shaela Rae

At the conclusion of the elections, two positions on the Board of Administration remained vacant. The newly elected President issued a call for interested members to put themselves forward over the following three-week period. A number of individuals have since expressed interest and will be considered for appointment, with final selections to be confirmed at a later date.

The Federation also acknowledged the presence of former President Kennedy McGowan, who attended the Extraordinary General Meeting. Mc Gowan, who resigned late last year due to personal reasons, extended his congratulations to the newly elected Board and encouraged all members to work collaboratively in the best interests of the sport, toward the sustained growth and success of volleyball in the Cayman Islands.

Mohammed congratulated the New Board on behalf of NORCECA’s President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz and offer the ongoing support of the Institutions of NORCECA and CAZOVA to the newly elected board of CIVF and encourage them to keep the ball flying in Cayman Islands and work “together as one” which are the watchwords of FIVB.

In accordance with the Federation’s Constitution, the newly elected Board will serve until 2028, the year of the next Summer Olympic Games, at which time a new Board will have the opportunity to be elected by the membership.

The Cayman Islands Volleyball Federation looks forward to the contributions of the newly elected Board and remains committed to the continued growth, development, and governance of volleyball in the Cayman Islands.
