Americans to face in Cayman Islands semifinals
SEVEN
MILE BEACH, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, November 12, 2022.- Central
American duos Andy Blanco/Luis García of Guatemala and Criforth
Lobo/Daniel Dyner of Costa Rica will face in the men’s semifinals of the
seventh stage of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour in Cayman Islands.
In the
other semifinal, Liam Kopp and Arran Chambers of Canada meet with Ian
Satterfield and Jake Urrutia of the United States.
Andy
Blanco and Luis García of Guatemala surprised winning over Mexicans
Jorge Barajas and Gabriel Cruz 2-0 (26-24, 21-15) to qualify into the
semifinals. Blanco/García will aim for their second final of the season,
in Managua they finished second place.
The
other Central American duo, Criforth Fallas Lobo and Daniel Dyner of
Costa Rica will play their first NORCECA Tour semifinal after defeating
Marc Lomeli and Daniel Samuelson of the U.S. Virgin Islands 2-0 (21-11,
21-15).
Liam
Kopp and Arran Chambers of Canada, once again advance into the Tour’s
semifinals just like they did in Hato Mayor. Kopp/Chambers dominated
their quarterfinals over Salvadorians David “Pepe” Vargas and Armando
Guatemala 2-0 (21-17, 21-14) who earlier defeated Sanatamaria/Jesario of
Cayman Islands 2-0 (2-15, 21-10)
Ian
Satterfield and Jake Urrutia from the U.S. reached the semifinals after
beating Matin Blake and Owayne Lawrence of Jamaica 2-0 (21-9, 21-16) who
came from a three-set duel win 2-1 (14-21, 21-17, 15-11) against Isaacs/Wilmott
of Bahamas.
Earlier,
Blanco/García (GUA) beat Rony Fleridor/Olando Joseph of Haiti 2-0
(21-12, 21-8), while Lomeli/Samuelson (ISV) defeated Seabrookes/Nage de
San Kitts and Nevis 2-0 (21-15, 21-16).
