Champs T&T tackle Barbados in CAZOVA opener

WILLEMSTAD, Curacao, July 9, 2015 - The coaches of the four teams participating in the CAZOVA Girls’ Youth Tournament gave their views about the chances of their sides following the preliminary enquiry conducted by members of the control committee on Wednesday.

This tournament has previously been staged in 2007, ’12 and ’13 and Trinidad & Tobago captured the gold medal every time.

Barbados’s Shennel Pooler: Training facilities were a problem so we had to train twice as day sometimes. A Cuban coach helped with the technical aspects and we should do well. We came to win.

Bonaire’s Rudi Anthony: This is our first time in the competition and the girls may be a little bit nervous, but we trained hard and think we can compete at a good level.

Curacao’s Patrice Bridgewater: This tournament is more about development. You either win or you learn. Home court advantage should not a real factor at this level

Trinidad & Tobago’s Assistant Coach Courtnee Mae Clifford: Just two of the players have experience at this level and we are not favourites like in the past. We have been training hard and will try our best.
