SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, March 28, 2015 – The
Dominican Republic team continues with their tune-up ahead of
the U20 Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup to be held in Santo
Domingo from April 17 to 25.
A friendly series between the Dominican Republic age-group team
and the representative of the Chicago-based Sport Performance
began at the Volleyball Complex in Santo Domingo on Saturday.
The Dominican team won the first match 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-22)
with Gaila Gonzalez, Yocaty Perez and Larysmer Martinez as the
most outstanding players in the victory.
Brazilian Wagner Pacheco, coach of the Dominican side, was
elated about the composure showed by the players on his squad
all who saw action on court on Saturday.
“We have a commitment with our fans to have a good showing as
hosts of the U20 Pan American Cup where we will be vying for the
gold medal,” Pacheco said afterwards. “I am pleased with the way
the girls played today and their development as athletes.”
The Sport Performance Club of Chicago is managed by coach Rick
Butler, who annually visits the Dominican Republic with teams of
different age levels.
“It is a good experience for the maturation process of the girls
in the two teams, both as athletes and as persons,” Pacheco
said. |
