Chile could not overcome the Dominican wall
LIMA, Peru, May 13, 2019 - Dominican Republic defeated Chile in
three sets (25-14, 25-16, 25-17), in its first match in Pool A
of the V U20 Pan American Cup, which for the second opportunity
is celebrated in Peruvian land.
The Chileans battled at the beginning of each set, but had
problems to overcome the Dominican blockade. The flaws in the
reception of Chile, facilitated the offensive work of the
Dominican Republic that had as top scorers: Natalia Martinez,
Madeline Guillpen and Sthefany Gonzalez with 11 points each.
The team of Cristian Cruz comfortably outscored Eduardo
Guillaume's in blocks (10-2) and services (10-2). The attack was
very even, (29-28).
Madeline Guillén, Dominican Republic's top scorer: Chile is a
very fighting team, but we were able to make our game strategy.
We know that this tournament is very important in our
preparation for the World Championship, and we will seek to grow
with each game.
Beatriz Novoa, Chilean captain: In this team there are many
young girls with little experience, and although I think we
could have given more, I value the effort that each one made.
This is a new process for Chile, a project that we are working
on in the long term, this was just the first game and tomorrow
will be a new opportunity.
Chile will play its next match of the U20 Cup, on Tuesday 14 at
15:00 against Puerto Rico. For its part, Dominican will return
on Wednesday 15 to Manuel Bonilla Coliseum to play at 17:00
hours against the Puerto Ricans. |
