defeated Costa Rica
in consecutive sets (25-20,
26-24, 25-10) to
secure the seventh place in the
Women's U-20 Pan
American Cup that
concludes on Sunday
at Coliseo de la Ciudad Deportiva.
Catalina
Melo (21
points) and
Lucia Lozano
(15) led
the attack of
the South Americans,
who faced some difficulties in the
first two sets but
dominated with their
serves in the third set.
Costa Rica’s Daniela
Vargas (9) was the best of the
defeated side.
The coach of
Chile, Hugo
Jauregui said he
"expected more
resistance to
Costa Rica, but in the end
we managed to
untangle the game
and complete a good
one-week experience."
Josefa
Schuler, the
South American leader,
praised the organization
of the tournament and
the kindness of the hosts,
"and we are also
happy because we won,
we didn’t finish last place and in the
third set we
