Gatineau, Quebec. August 11, 2022: In the first
match of the final day of pool play at the 15th Pan
American Cup, Group A’s Chile and Dominican
Republic battled it out at the Slush Puppie
Centre in Gatineau-.
Chile won the contest 3-1 (21-25, 25-22, 25-23,
25-15) for their first victory of the
tournament.
Chile’s strong offense (led in attack points
63-44) as well as serves (8 to the opponent’s 3)
made the difference. The Dominicans were even
with Chile in blocking points, 8-8, and Chile
made more errors than the Caribbean team.
Vicente Parraguirre of Chile dominated scoring
with 29 points; followed by teammate Dusan
Bonacic with 21.
For the Dominican side, Henry Omar Tapia Santana
led with 17 points while Wilfrido Hernandez
contributed 14.
Chile was playing without setter Matias Banda
who suffered an injury in the match with the USA
on Wednesday. |
