Chile gets victory over Costa Rica
LIMA, Peru, August 18, 2018 - Chile claimed a 3-0 victory over
Costa Rica (25-12, 25-22, 25-14) and will play on Sunday for the
fifth place against the winner of the match between Colombia and
Costa Rica.
Beatriz Novoa, Maike Martens and Daniela Castro led in Chile
with 16, 14 and points respectively. For Costa Rica, the best
was Edya Espinoza who registered 13 marks.
Chile won by outscoring Costa Rica in attacks (51-25) and
services (2-1) while both teams recorded 4 blocking points and
committed 18 unforced errors each.
The top scorer for Chile, Beatriz Novoa: "I think that the
fatigue from the five-set match last night brought us a bit of
play today, especially in the second set. However we regained
our concentration, we reduced the errors and in the third we
were able to close the game".
The captain of Costa Rica, Edya Espinoza: "We are lacking more
confidence in what we can do, many times we have the advantage
but we can’t keep it. That’s something we have to keep working
on". |
