Chile to play for fifth place
GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, May 3, 2013. -Chile beat Colombia 3-1
(25-22, 22-25, 26-24, 25-16) and will play for the fifth place
of the U-18 Girls Pan American Cup.
Chile held a better margin in the serving category by 10-3, led
by Catalina Melo with impressive 33 points. Colombia had a small
advantage in blocking 12-10 and AmandaCaneowas their top scorer
with 23 points.
Catalina Melo expressed “we didn’t expect Colombia to push so
hard, in the end we were able to march at our own pace. We hope
to win tomorrow’s match playing with good attitude”.
Veronica Pasos of Colombia indicated “my team couldn’t sustain
the rhythm and I believe we must play better organized”.
“It was much harder to beat Colombia today that in the
preliminary round; this was an important win to fight for the
fifth place by only losing two matches up until now; the girls
continue playing strong” the words of Hugo Jauregui, Argentinian
coach for Chile.
Oscar Guevara has been insisting in Colombia’s lack of
experience, “evidently the team has improved during the
tournament but it’sdifficult enough to fight against the
opponent but also against our own mistakes”. |
