RIMINI, Italy, June 20, 2021 – China defeated an
already qualified team of United States 3-0
(25-10, 25-20, 25-17) to finish fifth in the
preliminary round of the FIVB Women’s Volleyball
Nations League on Sunday.
In the last day of the preliminary phase, the
Chinese team snapped the 14-game winning streak
of the United States to close at 10-5 but not
enough to make the final-four round.
United States, Brazil, Turkey and Japan will
define the medals on June 24-25.
Zhu Ting finished with 16 points as the scoring
leader for China in the match. Other Chinese who
concluded the contest with double figures were:
Zhang Changning (13), Gong Xiangyu (12) and Yan
Ni (12).
Andrea Drew with 11 points was the only scorer
of United States who reached double digits with
11 points. Kelsey Robinson was next with 9 while
Foluke Akinradewo and Michelle Bartsch-Hackley
each had 7 points. |
