Coach Francisco Cruz conducts volleyball clinic in Japan
HIMEJI, Japan, September 28, 2018 - FIVB Instructor Francisco
Cruz Jimenez ran a Clinic for Pro Club Victorina as his Trinidad
and Tobago team worked out at Victorina Volleyball Academy
during their training camp on the build up to FIVB World
Championship 2018 in Kobe.
The kids of Himeji club came out excited and enthusiastic to
work with Coach Cruz and his athletes of Trinidad & Tobago. The
TTO ladies had their work cut out for them, as they were put to
work in groups to help demonstrate exercises as Cruz gave the
drills to help push development with the little opportunity he
got to pass-on knowledge in Japan.
The clinic was well executed by Cruz and the athletes, and his
job of instilling his knowledge of the game to the
young Japanese group deemed a successful one for the development
of volleyball and FIVB.
The session lasted 1 hour 15 minutes and Coach Cruz carried out
a number of drills which focused on ball control and
communication skills. The kids were very receptive to the
training and were quick learners.
The collaboration between the TTO women’s team and the children
created an atmosphere that was high energy and fostered hard
work along with enjoyment.
Trinidad and Tobago are making their debut at the FIVB Women’s
World Championship after many years dominating the Caribbean
sub-zone within NORCECA Confederation.
Before coaching the athletic team of TTO, the Cuban-born Cruz
held the same position with the Dominican Republic where he
helped to develop talent from the age-group categories into the
senior team. |
