Coaches Course Level I Opens in Santo Domingo
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, August 13, 2017 – A
NORCECA-FIVB International Level I Coaches Course of the
Regional Development Center of Volleyball, was inaugurated
with the presence of the Minister of Sports of the Dominican
Republic Mr. Danilo Díaz, the President of the Dominican Olympic
Committee (COD), Luis Mejía Oviedo, the First Vice-President of
the International Volleyball Federation and President of the
NORCECA Confederation, Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, the
Instructors who teach the Course, Mr. Gabriel Salvia of
Argentina and Juan Cartagena of Puerto Rico, assisted by coaches
Wilson Sánchez and Evelyn Carrera of Dominican Republic.
Also in attendance were Antonio Acosta, General Secretary of
COD, Mr. Bernardo Mesa, Technical Director of the Ministry of
Sports, Mr. Angel Rivas, representing the Dominican Volleyball
Federation.
Participants from Puerto Rico, Curacao, Venezuela, Bolivia,
Costa Rica, Honduras and the Dominican Republic, including
active players of National Volleyball Teams, as Elvis Contreras
Dominican team captain, José Cáceres and Tolinson Aquino,
members of the men’s Dominican team, as well as Cándida Arias
and Jeoselyna Rodríguez active players of the Dominican female
National Team. Also Víctor Rivera former captain of the National
Team of Puerto Rico and Anderson Prosper of the National team of
Curacao.
In his speech, Mr. Marte Hoffiz expressed the joy the FIVB and
NORCECA feel with the organization of the course and the fact
that active and retired athletes from different countries are
also participating, which guarantees a new generation of coaches
is coming along for the benefit the development of volleyball.
He also mentioned the great work carried out by the NORCECA/FIVB
Regional Development Center of Volleyball, at the turn of the
20th anniversary of its founding and that not only coaches have
passed, but have been graduated referees, statisticians ,
journalists, sports administrators, etc.
Mr. Díaz said that the Regional Development Center of
Volleyball has been a great example of work in the country and
that it has been the great motivating force for other sports
organizations to bring education of all its members, He said
that the FIVB, has set a great example with the creation of
these centers of development what should continue, at the end
extended a warm congratulations to the director of the
Development Center Prof. Nelson José Ramírez for the great work
in front of the center, praising the quality of organization of
events and the professional way that all its staff work.
Mejía Oviedo President of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD)
urged all participants to work for their sport and congratulated
the athletes who at the end of their competitive life dedicate
themselves to teaching their sport, and also the 20 years
fruitful work by the center and especially the director Ramírez.
The course will finish next Thursday with the presentation of
the certificates to the students who approve the course. |
