Coaches Course Level I in Jamaica

 

KINGSTON, Jamaica, November 23, 2017 – An FIVB Coaches Course Level I is currently underway in Jamaica with a total of 16 persons, including three women.

 

The course conducted by John Kessel of USA began on November 20 and runs until November 24.

 

The Jamaica Volleyball Association in conjunction with FIVB are staging the course at the GC Foster College of Physical Education and Sports in Kingston.

 

Jacqueline Cowan, general secretary of the Jamaican Volleyball Association said the purpose of the course includes: A) To improve the knowledge and competence of coaches; B) To contribute to a unified coaching system and C) To enable Jamaican Volleyball Association to develop national coaches programs.

 

Mr. Kessel is the Director of Sport Development at USA Volleyball who arrived in Jamaica last November 18.

 

The occasion will also be used to sign a memorandum of understanding between Jamaican Volleyball Association and GC Foster to renew the partnership between the two entities.

 

The opening ceremony of the course had in attendance Jacqueline Cowan, JaVA General Secretary; Paul Beckford,  Vice-President of Administration at GC Foster College, Christopher Samuda, President of the Jamaica Olympic Association, Mr. Rudolph Speid, President of the Jamaica Volleyball Association, and Mr. Kessel.
