Colombia against Puerto Rico and Cuba versus Venezuela in
semifinals
BARRANQUILLA. July 30, 2018. Cuba will try to secure another
final in the women's volleyball beach tournament of the XXIII
Central American and Caribbean Games, when it faces Venezuela in
one of the semifinals of the event.
Colombia surprised Mexico and took it out of the fight for the
medals. Now the locals will face Puerto Rico, who beat Nicaragua
in the quarterfinals.
Yuli Ayala/Diana Rios, from Colombia, took the ticket to the
semifinals by beating 21-17, 21-12 at the Mexican Zaira Orellana
/ Martha Revuelta. Mexico had been in all the five finals since
1998 that started beach volleyball in the Central American and
Caribbean Games, winning three and losing two against Cuba.
Mailen Deliz/Leila Martínez, from Cuba, won 21-15, 21-12 to
Estefanie Bethancourth/Natalia Girón, from Guatemala, to advance
to the semifinal where she will face Norisbeth Agudo/Gabriela
Brito, from Venezuela.
The Venezuelan left on the road 21-12, 21-14 to Kai Wright /
Sashalee Wallen, Jamaica.
Allanis Navas/María González, from Puerto Rico comfortably won
21-9, 21-15 to Nicaragua, with Swan Mendoza/Socorro López.
