				CALLAO, Peru, June 16, 2015 - Colombia defeated Costa Rica 3-0 
				(25-18, 25-23, 25-14) to even up its record at 2-2 in Pool A of 
				the XIV Women’s Pan American Cup at Miguel Grau Coliseum of 
				Callao while Costa Rica fell to 0-4.  
				
				  
				
				Amanda Coneo, Cindy Ramirez and Yeisy Soto were the main 
				offensive weapons of Colombia with 12, 11 and 10 points, 
				respectively. Marcela Araya had 11 tallies for Costa Rica and 
				Mijail Hines contributed 9 in the losing effort.  
				
				  
				
				The Colombians held margins of 6-4 and 6-3 in blocks and aces, 
				respectively, and dominated in attacks 36-29. The winners made 
				19 unforced errors to 27 by the losers. 
				
				  
				
				Maria Marin, captain of Colombia, said: “I am happy with today’s 
				victory. I think Colombia played more relaxed today after two 
				very pressing matches against United States and Argentina. Now 
				we have to continue working for our remaining matches.” 
				
				  
				
				Marcela Araya, captain of Costa Rica, said: “We are changing and 
				improving our game as we move on. In that process I noticed that 
				today we made many errors in key points, like in the second set, 
				but I am glad because the group is committed to move forward.” 
				
				  
				
				Eduardo Guillaume, coach of Colombia: “I congratulate Costa Rica 
				because of the battle they presented in all the sets which made 
				the match pretty even. Tomorrow will be a key game for us to 
				determine if we finish third of fourth in the pool and see how 
				are the chances of qualifying to the Grand Prix. Every day is a 
				different game and we are confident of a victory.” 
				
				  
				
				Braulio Godinez, coach of Costa Rica: “The girls are improving 
				in the game and above all the attitude was the key to keep 
				advancing in the second set. It was a shame we couldn’t win it 
				but that’s the game especially in these important tournaments 
				and of good quality.” |
