Colombia ranks fourth in Group A

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 6, 2016 - Colombia beat Venezuela 3-1 (25-10, 25-16, 20-25, 25-23) and was ranked as the fourth best place in Group A of the XV Pan American Volleyball Cup.

Colombia will face Trinidad and Tobago (5th place Group B) in their next match and approaches to Grand Prix qualifying 2017. Venezuela finished fifth and will face powerful team of Peru  seeking the qualification to the Grand Prix 2017.

The best scorer for Colombia was Kenny Moreno Pino with 26 points, followed by Dayana Segovia with 14 points. For Venezuela the best were Aleoscar White with 14 points and Roslandy Acosta with 13 points.

The coach of Colombia, Eduardo Guillaume said that the game was as difficult as exciting and after winning loosely and easily the first two periods, their players down their guard, they were over confident and were caught off guard.

Captain Colombian Maria Alejandra Marin was happy with copious tears, thanking God because they are practically on the doorstep of qualifying for the Grand Prix, which has always been the goal, his only goal. And while commenting that all opponents are tough, she understands that they should defeat Trinidad and Tobago.

The leader of Venezuela Ivan Nieto conceded defeat, congratulated his players and to the contrary, calling the game as very good in general, but with two bad first sets that did not allow Venezuela to end with the victory.
