VALLEDUPAR, Colombia, July 5, 2022 – Colombia
defeated Dominican Republic in a thrilling
five-setter 3-2 (17-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-21,
15-12) to claim the women’s volleyball gold
medal at the Juegos Bolivarianos.
Both teams reached the title’s match undefeated
in three outings and their performance did not
disappoint the crowd at Coliseo Municipal Julio
Monsalvo Castilla
Ana Karina Olaya was the top scorer for the
Colombian squad with 19 points, including one
ace and four blocks. Darlevis Mosquera also had
one ace and four blocks among her 11 points and
Laura Pascua contributed 14 points.
Madeline Guillen and Alondra Tapia stood out for
the Dominican side with 27 and 18 points,
respectively. Estefany Rabit and Natalia
Martinez added 11 and 10.
The bronze medal match went to the hands of Peru
who defeated Venezuela in straight sets 3-0
(25-15, 25-14, 25-22).
The Peruvians easily dominated in the first two
sets with excellent serves and general defense.
It was a close battle in the third set that saw
the score tied at 22-22 before the winners took
final command. |
