Colombia, Mexico, Cuba and Venezuela for the ticket to the final
BARRANQUILLA. July 30, 2018. The Cuban Olympic couple Sergio
González/Nivaldo Díaz advanced to the semi-final of the men's
volleyball beach tournament of the XXIII Central American and
Caribbean Games where they will face Venezuela.
The hosts, Colombia, will play against Mexico in the other
semifinal, which promises to be full of high-level actions.
Cuba beat in the quarterfinals 21-12, 21-17 to Ruben Mora/Danny
Lopez, from Nicaragua, while Venezuela, with Carlos Rangel /
José Gómez, won 21-13, 21-12 to Luis García/Andy Leonardo, of
Guatemala.
González/Díaz are looking for another final like in the 2014
Veracruz Games, where they faced the Venezuelan couple, Jackson
Henriquez and Jesus Villafañe.
The host couple Johan Murray/Jorge Luis Manjarres battled hard
to overcome 21-16, 23-21 to an inspired Costa Rican couple, with
Richard Smith/Víctor Alpizar.
The Mexicans Lombardo Ontiveros/Juan Virgen, left out of the
semifinal to Daneil Williams/Daynte Stewart, of Trinidad and
Tobago, to beat them 21-11, 21-14.
