Comarazamy elected to Dominican Hall of Fame
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, August 31, 2019 –
Roosevelt Comarazamy, the current press officer of NORCECA
Confederation, has been elected to the Sport Hall of Fame of
the Dominican Republic in recognition of his long career and
contributions to the development of the sport in his native
country.
Comarazamy, a former member of the basketball national team,
has been a writer and radio and television announcer for
fifty years.
He started in NORCECA in 2002 and has been press delegate in
FIVB world championships of different categories and
age-groups in Japan, Poland, Italy, Brazil, Qatar,
Argentina, Mexico and Peru. He also has been part of the
team that covered and supervised the volleyball press
services of the Olympic Games in London and Rio de Janeiro.
He also has attended as volleyball press officer of the Pan
American Games in Santo Domingo 2003, Guadalajara 2011 and
Toronto 2015.
He began his career covering baseball games of the Dominican
Winter League and has been correspondent of The Sporting
News and Baseball America, the two most important
publications of the sport. He is currently in his second
stint as the TV announcer of Licey Tigers following an
18-year period with Toros del Este in La Romana.
The induction ceremony will take place on next November 10.
