Coming from behind, Cuba defeats Peru in the Men's Pan American Cup

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 16, 2024.- After losing the first set, the Cuban team made the necessary adjustments to win the other three and beat Peru 3-1 (16-25, 25-17-25 -17, 25-19) on the third day of competitions of the XVII Men's Volleyball Cup.

In attacks CUB 54 – PER 44, in blocks CUB 11 – PER 5, and in services PER 5 – CUB 3.

The top scorer for the Cubans was Carlos Santana with 12 points, while Victor Andreu had 11 and Alexis Wilson 10. For Peru Eduardo Romay got 20 points and Maikel Jaramillo 10.

Mario Izquierdo, coach of Cuba: This match is extremely important because it puts us in an advantageous situation compared to the group, a match that allows us to still have the possibility of finishing first in our group and already being within the first four of this competition. This was a tough game in which Peru found it a bit difficult for us in the first set, but the boys made the adjustments and we were able to obtain the victory.
