Continental Referee Course opens in Santo Domingo
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, November 9, 2019 – A
Continental Referee Course began on Saturday in Santo
Domingo with 18 participants hailing from Argentina, Belize,
Canada, Cuba, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Puerto
Rico United States and Dominican Republic.
The course runs until November 14 and the referees will go
through technical, psychological and physical evaluations.
The course is organized by the NORCECA/FIVB Regional
Development Center in Dominican Republic under the direction
of Prof. Nelson Ramírez.
Jose Ramon Perez Vento of Cuba and Guy Bradbury of Canada
are the instructors of the course.
The opening ceremony was attended by IOC member Luis Mejía
Oviedo, president of CACSO and the Dominican Olympic
Committee and Alexis García, president of the Dominican
Volleyball Federation.
Also by Francisco Hiciano, vice minister of sports, José
Luis Ramirez, treasurer of the Dominican Olympic Committee,
among others.
The course is supported by the Dominican Federation, the
NORCECA Confederation, the International Volleyball
Federation (FIVB), the Ministry of Sports and the Dominican
Olympic Committee.
