Cope and Alfaro retain Central American Title  

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, 9 de julio 2017 -  Karen Cope and Natalia Alfaro continue with Costa Rica’s supremacy after defeating Maria Jose Orellana and Blanca Recinos 21-12, 21-19 in the title match of the XVII Central American AFECAVOL Beach Volleyball championship.  

In their road to the title match, Cope and Alfaro came from behind in semifinals to beat 2-1 (19-21, 21-18, 15-4) Lolette Rodríguez y Swan Mendoza of Nicaragua. In the other semifinal, Maria Jose Orellana and Blanca Recinos defeated countrywomen Natalia Giron/Estefanie Bethancourt 21-13, 21-14.

Orellana/Recinos earlier prevailed over El Salvador’s Maria Juliane Ponce/Liy Stephanie Porras 21-11, 2-17 in quarterfinals.

Giron/ Bethancourt won the bronze medal to Swan Mendoza/Lolette Rodriguez of Nicaragua 2-0 (21-19, 21-19).
