Coronelas de Durango Crowned Undefeated Champions

in Historic First LVP MX Edition

DURANGO, Mexico, April 22, 2026.- Coronelas de Durango made history by claiming the championship of the inaugural edition of the Mexican Professional Volleyball League (LVP MX), defeating Tapatías de Guadalajara 2-0 in the final series.

Last Saturday, April 18, at the Auditorio del Pueblo and in front of their home fans, Coronelas sealed the title with a 3-1 (18-25, 25-16, 26-24, 25-15) victory in Game 2 of the Grand Final. The home team showed resilience after dropping the first set, demonstrating their strength to take control of the match.

Polish middle blocker Klaudia Pawlik was instrumental in the win, leading the match with 23 points (15 kills, a match-high 7 blocks, and one ace), earning Most Valuable Player honors of the match.

Coronelas had already taken the lead in the series by winning Game 1 on the road in a thrilling five-set battle, 3-2 (25-21, 24-26, 25-16, 20-25, 15-6).

On offense for Coronelas, Atenas Gutiérrez contributed 22 points (21 kills and one block), while Melissa Garciglia added 10 points, all on kills. For Tapatías, Seomara Sainz led with 16 points (13 kills, 2 blocks, and one ace), Jocelyn Urias added 12 (8 kills and 4 blocks), and María Anizares finished with 11 (9 kills and 2 blocks).

In team statistics for the second match, Coronelas dominated in attacks 56-42, while both teams were tied in blocks with 11 points each. In service, Coronelas held a slight edge with 4 aces to 3.

The championship capped a perfect season for Coronelas, who finished atop the standings with an undefeated 20-0 record. Tapatías and Gigantes both closed at 13-7, followed by Guerreras (8-12), Leonas (6-14), and Freseras (0-20).

During the awards ceremony, the All-Star Team of the season was announced, recognizing the tournament’s top performers:
