Coronelas de Durango remain undefeated at the halfway point
of
the Mexican Women’s Professional Volleyball League
MEXICO, February 15, 2025.– With the conclusion of Matchday 5, the
first round of the Women’s Professional Volleyball League in México
officially came to a close, a phase that confirmed the strong pace
of the league leaders while keeping the battle for the top spots
highly competitive.
At
the halfway mark of the schedule, Coronelas de Durango remain
undefeated at the top, while Tapatías and Gigantes have consolidated
themselves as their closest challengers. With the second round about
to begin, tactical adjustments and an increasingly intense race
toward the final stage are expected.
Coronelas reaffirm their leadership
Playing at home, Coronelas once again showed their dominance against
Guerreras.
On Saturday, they secured a 3-0 win (27-25, 25-18, 25-14), with
Michelle Alejandra Lizárraga González named MVP, her second award of
the tournament.
On Sunday, they repeated the 3-0 victory (25-15, 25-17, 25-17), this
time with Fernanda Bañuelos López earning Most Valuable Player
honors.
Tapatías win the series on the road
At
the home court of Freseras de Irapuato, Tapatías captured the full
series.
On Saturday, they won 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-19), with Natalia
Martínez recognized as MVP.
They followed up Sunday with another victory, 3-1 (25-19, 25-15,
23-25, 25-21), highlighted by Yaneirys Rodríguez Durán as MVP,
keeping the team firmly in second place overall.
Gigantes strong at home
Meanwhile, Gigantes defended their home court with two wins over
Leonas.
The first match ended 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 24-26, 25-21), with Mina
Vuckovic named MVP.
In the second match, Gigantes closed the series with a 3-0 victory
(25-23, 25-20, 25-22), highlighted by Rachel Leah Brown, who earned
her third individual award of the season.
With
these results, the league enters its second half with Coronelas as
the undefeated leader and a tight contest among the main contenders,
setting the stage for a highly competitive decisive phase. |
