Corozal moves Caguas out of second place;
Santurce remains unbeaten in the LVSF
CAGUAS, Puerto Rico, March 1, 2026. – The seventh week of action in
the Women’s Volleyball Superior League (LVSF) left the Cangrejeras
de Santurce with their 14th consecutive victory without a loss,
while the Pinkin de Corozal climbed into second place in the
standings during Sunday’s slate.
At
the Roger Mendoza Coliseum in Caguas, the Pinkin defeated the
Criollas de Caguas for the third time this season, knocking them out
of second place by winning in four sets and claiming the three
available points from the match.
The
set scores in favor of Corozal were 21-25, 25-16, 25-16, 25-18.
With
the victory, Corozal improves to 9-7 with 27 accumulated points,
while the Criollas failed to earn points in the loss and drop to
third place with an 8-9 record and 25 points.
Corozal’s offense was led by Jordan Iliff, who contributed 24 points
(23 kills and one block). She was followed by Sharlissa De Jesús
with 15 points, Adriana Rodríguez with 13, and Ivania Ortiz with 11.
For
Caguas, in the losing effort, Jenaisya Moore scored 19 points (18
kills and one block), while Diana Reyes and Andrea Serra added 10
points each.
In
team statistics, the Pinkin outperformed the Criollas 58-45 in
attacks, 9-4 in blocks, 8-3 in service aces, 35-32 in receptions,
74-68 in digs, and 14-9 in assists.
In
the other match of the day, the Cangrejeras de Santurce defended
their unbeaten record by defeating the Valencianas de Juncos in
straight sets, 28-26, 28-26, 25-21, at the Rafael G. Amalbert
Coliseum, securing first place by earning all three points from the
match.
Santurce maintains a perfect 14-0 record with 39 accumulated points,
while the Valencianas remain in last place with a 5-11 mark and 15
points.
The
eighth and penultimate week of LVSF action begins this Wednesday,
March 4, with Pinkin de Corozal vs. Cangrejeras de Santurce at 8:12
p.m. at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum. |
