Costa Rica Leads U19 Central American Championship in Both Genders
SAN JOSÉ, Costa Rica, November 25, 2023. - The host teams won all their
matches on the second day of the II Under-19 Central American Beach
Volleyball Championship, leading the standings in the quest for a medal
in Costa Rica.
The sand courts in La Sabana, the Costa Rican capital, enjoyed six
exciting matches, three in each gender, with the support of the crowd.
In women, the Costa Rican duo of Valentina Molina and Aliza Aguilar
first defeated Danna Aguilar and Maritza Zúñiga from Guatemala in three
sets, 2-1 (19-21, 23-21/17-15), in the most thrilling match so far.
In their second match, they dominated Alexandra Reyes and Fátima Rendón
from El Salvador 2-0 (21-6/21-10).
Panama’s Krisleen González/Elleny Solís also defeated El Salvador 2-0
(21-11/21-16).
Costa Rica will enter the last day leading the event, followed by
2-Guatemala, 3-Panama, 4-Nicaragua, and 5-El Salvador.
Meanwhile, in men, Julián Araya and Yulius Brown of Costa Rica also won
over their two opponents of the day.
In their first match of the day, they won 2-0 (21-18/21-12) after the
withdrawal of Angelo Guadamuz and Evans Solís from Nicaragua when the
second set was in progress due to an injury of Guadamuz.
Araya/Brown also defeated Víctor Arauz and Adamit del Cid from Panama
2-0 (21-14/21-15).
The day was completed with the victory of the Guatemalan pair José
Guevara and Roberto Recinos against Nicaragua 2-0 (21-10/21-17).
On Sunday, starting at 9:00 am, Costa Rica will seek a medal, leading
the standings, followed by 2-Panama, 3-Guatemala, 4-Nicaragua, and 5-El
Salvador.
