Costa Rica and Nicaragua for the pass to the final in men
PANAMA, November 10, 2018 - Two couples from Costa Rica and two
from Nicaragua qualified for the semifinals of the men's
tournament of the XVIII Central American Major Beach Volleyball
Championship.
For the first time in these tournaments only two countries will
dispute the semifinals. In Group A, Rubén Mora / Dany López
played impeccable by winning all four of their matches, closing
on Saturday with a victory by score of 2-0 (21-18, 21-19)
against Alexandre Lezcano / Sebastián Valenciano (CRC 2) who
were in second with 3-1. Honduras with Irvin Reyes / Juan
Menjivar finished with 2-2.
Lezcano / Valenciano won 2-0 (21-16, 21-19) to Reyes / Menjivar,
to secure the second place and in the semifinals they will face
Gerson Contreras / Denis López, from Nicaragua 2.
In Group B, Contreras / Lopez won in three sets (18-21, 21-13,
15-13) to Richard Smith / Bryan Monge, of Costa Rica 1, and then
they won 2-0 (21-14, 21 -19) to Tato and Pepe, from El Salvador,
to qualify as first.
Smith / Monge closed with a 2-0 win (21-14, 21-17) over Davis
Montero / Jason Quintero (Panama 2) and will now face Mora /
Lopez in the other semifinal that will start at 9:00 a.m. and
the finals will be at 2:00 p.m.
The games will also be held to define positions 5-6, and from 7
to 10 with Honduras facing Panama 2 and El Salvador against
Panama 1. The two couples from Belize will play for the ninth
place. |
