Costa Rica battles to achieve the victory

 

PANAMA CITY, Panama, July 28, 2016 – Costa Rica battled hard to defeat Honduras in straight sets 3-0 (28-26, 30-28, 25-22) in the second match of day four at the U23 Men’s Central American Championship at José “Beto” Remón Gymnasium of Panama on  Thursday.

 

The match was pretty close over the three battled sets as it showed in the spikes department with Costa Rica leading 39-5 and also in the blocking category 11-8, but the Hondurans dominated from the service line with a margin of 6-4 in aces.

 

Walter Serrano was the most valuable player in the Costa Rican victory with 17 points (13 in attacks and 3 service winners), while opposite Cesar Gomez added 13 points, including three blocks.

 

Honduras attacked with Diego Urbizo (12 points), Germán Moreira (11 points) and Jimmy Ventura (11 points). Alejandro Avila was the best blocker of the match with five stuffed blocks.
