Costa Rica beats Guatemala in three sets
MANAGUA, Nicaragua, September 8, 2017.- Costa Rica beat
Guatemala in straight sets (27-25, 25-16, 25-19) to remain in
second place at the XVII AFECAVOL U-21 Men’s Central American
Championship being held at IND Volleyball venue in Managua,
Nicaragua.
While Guatemala on occasions moved closer in scores, Costa Rica
managed to lead the entire match. Costa Rica finished with a
huge 48-27 advantage in spikes.
Costa Rica balanced their offense between Mariano Salas (15),
Manrrique Carazo (13) and Andres Ortiz (13), while Guatemala
attacked with Edgar Maldonado on 11 points and Sergy Rodriguez
on 8 points.
Andres Ortiz captain of Costa Rica said “it was an exhausting
match, having to play two daily sessions is exhausting. We
expected Guatemala to have a better day, we are happy with the
outcome. Now we must rest for tomorrow’s matches against
Honduras and Panama”.
David Alvarado captain of Guatemala indicated “unfortunately we
lacked energy, we had too many errors and the cost was losing;
we hope to do better tomorrow”. |
