Costa Rica defeats Mexico for 11th place

CALLAO, Peru, June 16 2013 - Costa Rica defeated Mexico 3-1 (27-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-21) to finish in 11th place at the XII Movistar Women’s Pan American Cup at the Miguel Grau Coliseum.

Verania Willis scored 24, Karen Cope followed with 19 and Captain Angela Willis posted 17 for Costa Rica. Yesenia Celedon was the top scorer for Mexico with 21 points, Fernanda Güitron registered 14, and Patricia Valle charted 11.

The coach of Mexico, Estanislao Vachino decided to play with bench players with the exception of Lizbeth Sainz.

Two Argentinean coaches, Vachino (Mexico) and Horacio Bastit (Costa Rica) faced each other at this match for the first time with these national teams in a Pan American Cup. Bastit used his full squad excepted of Viviana Murillo and Daniela Vargas.
