CALLAO, Lima, June 19, 2015 – Costa Rica defeated Uruguay 3-1
(22-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-21) in the match for eleventh place of
the XIV Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup played at Miguel
Grau Coliseum of Callao on Friday.
Evelyn Sibaja and Mijail Hines topped Costa Rica with 13 and 11
points, respectively, while Sofía Neves and Gabriela Talmon
finished with 17 and 10 for Uruguay.
The winners held slight margins in blocks (7-6) and aces (6-4)
while benefitting from 43 unforced errors committed by the
losers while making 29 of their own.
It was the first victory for Costa Rica in the competition.
Meanwhile, Uruguay goes back home winless in six outings. |
