Costa Rica one step away from
the title by beating Nicaragua
Managua, november 1, 2019.- Costa Rica (4-0)
remained undefeated by beating 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-21) to
Nicaragua on the penultimate day of the 13th U19 Central
American Men's Volleyball Championship.
Dowshel Smith with 22 points was the best for
Costa Rica, of these 17 in attack and 4 in block and Harold
Rodriguez contributed 12 units. Por Nicaragua, Victor Cruz
was left with 11 points.
Costa Rica made the difference in blocking
10-1, in service 4-2 and in attack 32-27, with 29 points by
mistake of the opponent and gave 22.
Harold Rodríguez said: "We knew we would have
the pressure of the public but the coach gave us a talk and
we managed to stay focused. This was an important and
complicated game, Nicaragua has been the team that has
complicated us the most. Tomorrow we will be just as strong
because we want the gold medal. ”
Alberto Blanco, coach of Costa Rica: ”the
public always puts pressure, we knew that today it would be
an entertaining game, it had not stressed me as much as
today, we had about 22-20 but we managed to close that set.
Now we go against Honduras and we want to close with a win
and finish undefeated. ”
