MANAGUA, Nicaragua, October 22, 2021 - Costa
Rica beat Honduras 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-8) to
claim the gold medal of the XXI Central American
Major Women's Volleyball Cup while reaching 15
consecutive regional titles starting in El
Salvador 1993.
Tamara Espinoza closed an exceptional tournament
by scoring 14 points, by 8 from Karen Cope and 7
from Tatiana Sayles. Cecille Johnson and Dora
Bogran, with 5 units each. Costa Rica was better
in attack 34-11, blocking 4-2 and serving 10-3,
with 27 errors by their opponent, for 23
committed.
Nicaragua was second by beating El Salvador 3-0
(25-9, 25-23, 25-10), which for the second
consecutive tournament won the bronze medal.
Hellen Traña and Josafat Díaz scored 10 points
each; for El Salvador María Jimenez was left
with 8 and six from Gabriela Funes. Nicaragua
made the difference with 14 effective blocks, by
none of the Salvadorans, who were outscored
26-19 in attack and 3-2 in service, with 32
errors by El Salvador by 21 of the winners.
Nicaragua closed the match with the farewell of
Captain Claudia Noguera, who retired with 80
matches wearing the shirt of the blue and white
team.
Panama and Belize defined the fifth position,
with a triumph for the Panamanians 3-2 (18-25,
25-15, 24-26, 25-17, 15-13) in a highly
contested match, with comebacks in each set.
Haslyn Cuero scored 19 points for Panama, Joanna
Arroyo and Nayoisse Campbell left with 14 and 10
for Elena Berrocal. For Belize, Sherika Burton
scored 23 points and 18 for Captain Nelissa
Rivera.
Panama was better in attacks 60-46, blocking 9-7
and service 11-5, also taking advantage of 27
points due to errors by their opponents,
although they committed 38.
Final positions:

4.- Guatemala, 5.- Panama, 6.- Belize, 7.-
