MANAGUA, Nicaragua, December 8, 2015 – Costa Rica defeated
Panama in straight sets (25-15, 25-15, 25-17) to score their
second triumph at the XVI U21 Women’s Central American
Championship. It was the second loss for the Panamanians.
The Costa Ricans held the advantage in attacks 39-16 and in aces
9-5 while Panama dominated 5-0 in the blocking category. Panama
committed 39 errors to 19 by Costa Rica.
Allison Font led Costa Rica with 13 points, followed by Edya
Espinoza with 13. For Panama, the captain Yileen Ng finished
with a match-high 16 points.
Mariana Rodríguez, captain of Costa Rica: “We faced a Panamanian
team well concentrated in defense. They battled hard and we must
congratulate them.”
Yileen Ng, captain of Panama: “Today we performed well. We
adjusted the serve and reception which allowed us to attack
better and also our blocking improved. Despite the loss we know
