Costa Rica second place at AFECAVOL U-21

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, September 9, 2017.- Costa Rica finished second place of the XVII AFECAVOL U-21 Men’s Central American Championship after defeating Panama 3-0  (27-25, 25-22, 26-28, 25-18) on Saturday at IND Volleyball venue of Managua, Nicaragua.

Costa Rica had to work hard to beat Panama who needed to win to finish with the bronze medal that finally went to Guatemala.

Panama was more effective in spikes by 52-48 margin; while Costa Rica had 11-8 blocking margin and 8-2 in serves.

Andres Rodriguez captain of Costa Rica led with 18 points and captain Jose Anguizola of Panama also topped his team with 25 points.

Rodriguez said “it was a nice match, it was a good experience; Panama is a strong and solid team, and they gave us trouble. We are glad finishing in second place, but not satisfied because we wanted the gold”.
