Costa Rica stays undefeated after beating Panama

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, October 22, 2021 - Costa Rica continues unstoppable and beat Panama 3-0 (27-10, 25-18, 25-16) on Friday to remain undefeated in five games at the XXI Central American Major Women’s Volleyball Cup.

Tatiana Sayes was the best scorer for Costa Rica with 16 points, Tamara Espinoza had 14 and Karen Cope added 9. For Panama (1-4), Joanna Arroyo had 6 and Haslyn Cuero added 5.

Costa Rica was superior in everything; 39-23 in attack, 7-4 in blocking and 6-1 in service, with 23 unforced errors from Panama to 16 by the winners.

Sayles said that “It was a very important victory, we still have to play Honduras, but we are getting closer to our goal, which is to finish in first place. Tomorrow we come with everything, since we want to do things well in our last game, to show that we are improving game by game, and we hope to arrive at our best moment”.

"Today we rotate our team, the players who are on the bench showed that we have a team willing to fight point to point and stand up in each set," added Sayles.

Costa Rica closes its calendar on Saturday against Honduras at 1:00 p.m., while Panama meets Belize at 4:00 p.m.
