Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Guatemala Start Strong in Central
American Games Beach Volleyball
JALAPA, Guatemala, October 24, 2025.– Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and
Guatemala began with strong performances in the women’s beach
volleyball tournament of the 12th Central American Games Guatemala
2025, taking place at the Jalapa Sports Complex.
Costa Rica’s Marcela Araya and Eugenia Ramírez showcased their
dominance from the opening day, defeating Clara Sabal and Aliyan
Pilgrim of Belize with authority 2-0 (21-11, 21-7), highlighting
complete control in the second set with a six-point scoring streak.
In their second match, the Costa Rican duo maintained the same level
of intensity, comfortably defeating Ingrid Lezcano and Krisleen
González of Panama 2-0 (21-10, 21-15), who were coming off a loss to
Nicaragua.

Nicaragua’s Socorro López and Lolette Rodríguez also had a perfect
start, opening with a 2-0 (21-9, 21-9) victory over Panama’s
González/Wilson. Later, they reaffirmed their superiority with
another solid win against Belize’s Sabal/Pilgrim 2-0 (21-9, 21-7),
finishing the day undefeated.
Host team Paola Alvarado and Laura Quiñónez of Guatemala debuted
with a victory over Karla Tovar and Daniela Vigil of El Salvador.
Although the Salvadorans took a 7-4 lead in the second set,
Guatemala rallied with an attack by Alvarado to tie the score at
11-11 and went on to claim the win 2-0 (21-16, 21-18).
In their second match, Alvarado and Quiñónez kept their momentum,
defeating Shanna Rivera and Reizel Bruhier of Honduras 2-0 (21-15,
21-15) in a contest that showcased strong defensive skills from both
pairs.
The preliminary round, played in a round-robin format, continues on
Saturday. The phase will conclude on the morning of the 27th, with
the top-ranked team advancing directly to the semifinals. Teams
ranked 2nd through 7th will compete in qualification matches for the
semifinals later that afternoon. |
