Costa Ricans Lezcano and Lobo advance to Round of 16
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, October 13, 2018 - Costa Ricans
Alexandre Lezcano and Criforth Lobo advanced to the round of 16
of the boy’s beach volleyball tournament of the Youth Olympic
Games after a victory against Gabriel González and José Osorio
of Venezuela on Saturday morning.
The duo of Lezcano and Lobo defeated González and Osorio by
scores of 2-0 (21-17, 21-15).
In another match, Cubans Jorge Alayo and Miguel Ayón edged
William Rivera and Randall Santiago of Puerto Rico by scores of
2-1 (21-17, 13-21, 15-8).
Timothy Brewster and John Schwengel of United States advanced
with a 2-0 (25-23, 21-18) over Brazilians Joao Pedro Camargo and
Gabriel Zuliani.
In the girls division:
Karla Romero and Atenas Gutiérrez of Mexico outlasted Uruguay’s
Victoria Corbacho and Josefina Vargas 2-0 (23-21, 21-17).
Allanis Navas and María González of Puerto Rico outplayed
Mercia Mucheza and Ana Paula Sinaportar of Mozambique 2-0
(21-15, 21-14).
Lisbeth Allcca and Medalyn Mendoza of Peru outscored Dana Roskic
and Erika Vermette of Canada 2-1 (21-19, 15-21, 15-12).
Also the Swiss Celine Baumann and Mara Betschart eliminated
Guatemala’s María Juarez and Paola Alvarado 2-0 (21-8, 21-11).
Finally, Brazilians Thamela Coradella and Ana Carolina dos
Santos crushed Kayla Arends and Mali Rafini of Aruba 2-0 (21-7,
