Costa Ricans and Guatemalans are undefeated
SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, December 9, 2016 – Two female teams
of Costa Rica and Guatemala are undefeated after day one at the
IX Central American Junior Beach Volleyball Championship taking
place at the courts of El Salvador Volleyball Federation.
The Costa Rica-1 team of sisters Lucia and Valeria Matarrita
beat Laurens Álvarez and Xue Murillo of Honduras-2 by scores of
21-9, 21-19 and continued with a 21-7, 21-13 win over Anielka
Alonzo and Karla Umaña of Nicaragua.
The Costa Rica-2 team of Angel Williams and Vivian Hernandez won
21-15, 21-8 over Meghan Díaz and Shanna Rivera of Honduras-1 in
their only match of Friday.
Meanwhile, Natalia Girón and Estefanie Bethancourt of
Guatemala-1 got victories by identical 21-7, 21-12 scores over
Aura Cortez and Adriana Bonilla of El Salvador-1 and Díaz and
Rivera of Honduras.
The second team of Guatemala composed by Paola Alvarado and
María Juárez had to battle hard to prevail 21-17, 21-18 against
Blanca Colato and Paula Gómez of El Salvador-2 and then defeated
Hondurans Álvarez and Murillo 21-13, 21-13.
