Crabb brothers aiming to keep spotless record

 

   

GUAYMAS, México, March 30, 2016 – Americans Taylor and Trevor Crabb and Kelly Reeves and Allison Daley-McColloch, winners of the NORCECA Circuit first event of the year in Guatemala City earlier this month, are among the participants at the inaugural Guaymas Tournament the second stop of 2016 to be held from April 1-3.

 

The Crabb brothers, who have been successful in their two NORCECA competitions they have entered thus far, are going for a third victory. They also won in St Lucia in 2015.

Taylor and Trevor prevailed over Mexicans José Luis Rubio and Josué Gaxiola in an epic three-set battle 2-1 (25-23, 31-33, 17-15) to claim the men’s gold medal in Guatemala City.

 

Rubio and Gaxiola are also registered to take part in Guaymas as well as the powerful Cuban duo of Nivaldo Díaz and Sergio Gonzalez, who have collected five wins in the last two years.

 

Reeves and Daley-McColloch, playing as a team or the first time, took home the gold medal in Guatemala City by defeating the Canadian pair of Julie Gordon and Brandie Wilkerson 2-0 (25-23, 21-10).

 

Gordon and Wilkerson will be going for the revenge in Guaymas as they are also entering the tournament along with compatriot and two-time winner Caleigh Whitaker who is partnering with Sophie Bukovec.

 

Teams from Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guadeloupe, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, St Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago, United States and U.S. Virgin Islands are registered for the double gender event with total prize money of US$ 16,000.
