Criollas and Cangrejeras Open LVSF Quarterfinals with Wins

CAGUAS, Puerto Rico, March 21, 2026 – The Quarterfinals of the Women’s Superior Volleyball League (LVSF) got off to a strong start for defending champions Criollas de Caguas and runners-up Cangrejeras de Santurce, as both secured important victories over their respective opponents at the start of the postseason.

Criollas Rally and Defend Home Court in a Dramatic Fifth Set

At Coliseo Roger Mendoza, the Criollas came back from a 1-2 deficit in sets and forced a deciding fifth set after withstanding a strong push from the Atenienses de Manatí in the fourth frame.

Manatí tied the score at 23 with a successful attack by Emily Elliot from zone two, but Caguas responded with two consecutive points: a kill by Génesis Collazo from zone two and another by Mylei Vargas Deason from zone four, off the hands of the Manatí block.

In the deciding set, Caguas pulled ahead 9-5, but a 5-0 run by the Atenienses gave them a narrow lead again. The final tie came at 12, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.

The Criollas scored three straight points: a ball finished by Diana Reyes at the net, a shared block by Reyes and Alexandra Sczech on Karla Santos, and another point sealed by Sczech to secure the home victory.

Scores: 25-20, 16-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-12.

Caguas’ offense was led by Génesis Collazo with 18 points, followed by Jenaisya Moore with 17, Diana Reyes with 13, and Alexandra Sczech with 10.

In team statistics, Caguas led in digs (56-54), while Manatí held the edge in attacks (66-65), blocks (14-13), aces (4-1), digs (91-90), and assists (21-18).

For Manatí, Emily Elliot led all scorers with 27 points, followed by Karla Santos with 19, Shaylee Myers with 13, and Elise Goetzinger with 11.

Action in Section B continues Tuesday, March 24, when the Atenienses host the Leonas de Ponce at Coliseo Juan Aubín Cruz starting at 8:30 p.m.

Cangrejeras Dominate Pinkin to Open Section A

At Coliseo Roberto Clemente, the Cangrejeras de Santurce picked up where they left off in the regular season, opening the Quarterfinals with a solid 3-1 victory (20-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-14) over the Pinkin de Corozal.

The series continues Wednesday, when the Valencianas de Juncos visit the Cangrejeras at the Clemente starting at 8:12 p.m.

Quarterfinal Format

The Quarterfinals are played with the six teams that participated in the Regular Season, divided into two groups of three based on their final standings.

Section A

- 1st place – Cangrejeras de Santurce

- 3rd place – Pinkin de Corozal

- 6th place – Valencianas de Juncos

Section B

- 2nd place – Criollas de Caguas

- 4th place – Leonas de Ponce

- 5th place – Atenienses de Manatí
