Cuba and Puerto Rico to play in Final NORCECA Qualifier
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, September 26, 2017 – Cuba and
Puerto Rico will participate in a final NORCECA Men’s World
Championship Qualification Tournament along with the teams
placed fourth and fifth at the Continental Championship that
begins on Tuesday in Colorado Springs.
Neither of the two teams were able to travel to Colorado due to
complications of force majeure generated by the path of
hurricanes Irma and Maria throughout the Caribbean zone.
Cuba and Puerto Rico are ranked third and fifth, respectively,
by NORCECA. United and Canada are first and second while Mexico
is fourth.
The place and dates of the final tournament will be announced
within the next seven days, said Cristobal Marte Hoffiz,
president of NORCECA Confederation.
The 10-team Continental Championship in Colorado Springs offers
now three tickets to next year’s FIVB Men’s World Championship
in Bulgaria and Italy.
The teams in Colorado Springs are hosts United States, Canada,
Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Martinique, Mexico,
St Lucia, St Vincent & Grenadines and Trinidad & Tobago.
