Cuba and USA To Play for 9-16 positions

 

TUNIS, Tunisia, August 27, 2019 – Teams of Cuba and United States were eliminated in the knock-out round of the FIVB Boys’ Volleyball U19 World Championship and will settle to play in the consolation round for the 9-16 positions.

 

Iran defeated Cuba 3-0 (25-19, 26-24, 25-22) while Argentina trounced United States 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-14) on Tuesday.

 

In the next round, Cuba will play Germany while United States will battle Brazil. Germany lost to Russia 3-0 (25-11, 25-20, 25-20) and Brazil lost to Bulgaria in five sets 3-2 (25-23, 24-26, 19-25, 25-21, 15-6).

 

The other four teams advancing to quarterfinals were: Italy, Japan, Belaraus and Egypt who defeated Chinese Taipei, Korea, Czech Republic and Nigeria, respectively.
