Cuba and USA advance to second round of FIVB U19
TUNIS, Tunisia, August 26, 2019 – Cuba and United States
advanced to the knock-out and classification matches of the
2019 edition of the FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U19 World
Championship.
On Tuesday 27, Cuba will play Iran while United States will
meet Argentina. Cuba finished second in Pool A with 3-1
record and USA were second in Pool D with a 2-2 record.
Cuba won over Tunisia 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-18), Brazil 3-2
(23-25,
21-25, 25-22, 25-18, 27-25), Chinese Taipei 3-1 (25-18,
17-25, 25-19, 25-20) and lost to Belaraus 3-1 (25-21, 25-23,
22-25, 25-16).
The United States won against Dominican Republic
3-0 (20-25, 31-29, 25-17) and Nigeria 3-0 (25-22, 25-19,
25-20) and lost to Korea 3-1 (25-27, 25-17, 25-20, 25-22)
and Russia 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-12).
Teams of Mexico and Dominican Republic, winless in Pools C
and D with 0-4 records, will compete for the 17-20 positions
together with Tunisia and Colombia.
Mexico lost to Argentina 1-3
(25-21, 17-25, 25-14, 25-20), Japan 3-0 (25-17, 25-21,
25-13), Egypt 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-21) and Germany 3-2
(25-21, 23-25, 25-18, 14-25, 15-12).
The Dominican Republic lost to United States 3-0 (20-25,
31-29, 25-17), Russia 3-1 (25-17, 25-14, 25-17), to Korea
3-0 (25-17, 25-16-25-15) and Nigeria 3-0 (25-17, 30-28,
25-17).
