Cuba defeats Mexico in four sets
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, August 24, 2023.- In a close match
that extended to 4 sets, Cuba was able to recover after losing the first
set to defeat Mexico 3-1 (22-25, 27-25, 25-15 , 25-21) in the NORCECA
Final Six Pan American Cup that is being held at the “Ricardo Arias”
Volleyball Palace.
The Cuban offense had 5 players in double figures led by Dezirett Madan
and Greisy Fine with 14 points each followed by Ivy Vila with 13, Laura
Suarez who added 12 and Jessica Aguilera with 12 points. For Mexico, the
best was Karen Rivera with 21 points followed by Grecia Castro and
Daniela Siller with 15 and 10 points respectively.
Grettel Moreno, captain of Cuba:
We knew that today's game was important to place us in the top four and
we went out to do our best. We were a little tired since we had played
in the morning against the United States, which despite not It was very
strong, it demanded a lot of us physically. In this match against Mexico
we knew how to recover after the first set, see what didn't work and
apply it in the next three and that's what gave us the victory.

We started with a positive set for us, because we followed the
instructions we were given, we were more disciplined than in the next
