Cuba to play for fifth place at Pan Am Cup
LIMA, Peru, June 24, 2017 – Cuba advanced to the match for fifth
place of the XVI Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup by Movistar
following a 3-1 (25-15, 25-22, 18-25, 25-21) victory over
Colombia at Manuel Bonilla Coliseum of Miraflores on Saturday.
Heidy Casanova topped Cuba with 19 points, including three
blocks, as one of four Cubans who reached double figures in the
scores. Daymara Lescay added 12 in the victory while Regla
Gracia and Laura Suarez each contributed 11 points.
Colombia’s Dayana Segovia had a match-high 23 points, including
four blocks and two aces, while Giselle Perez finished with 14
points in the loss.
Cuba outblocked Colombia 15-10 and took advantage of 28 unforced
errors from the defeated side. |
