Cuba, Argentina, Brazil and Chile expect rivals in the
quarterfinals
Lima, July 26, 2019. Couples from Cuba, Argentina, Brazil and
Chile qualified to the quarterfinals of the Women's Beach
Volleyball of the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, when they won
their respective groups and must wait for their rivals that will
leave the Round of 16 keys.
The Cuban team formed Maylen Deliz/Leila Martínez beat Peru (Lisbeth
Allcca/Medalyn Mendoza) 2-0 (21-12, 21-11), and Paraguay
(Patricia Caballero/Michelle Valiente) beat El Salvador 2-0
(21-17, 21-13) with (Kathya Vásquez/Maria Fernanda Vargas).
Costa Rica and Nicaragua will play for the quarter ticket and
the winner will be measured against Cuba.
Argentina (Ana Gallay / Fernanda Pereyra) was the leader of
group B by winning in a great match 2-1 (21-13, 20-22, 15-11) to
Canada (Amanda Harnett / Marie Lapointe). Nicaragua (Swan
Mendoza/Lolette Rodríguez) won 2-0 (21-15, 21-18) to Guatemala
(Paola Alvarado / Estefanie Bethancourth) and took third place.
Argentina awaits the winner of the game between Chile and Peru
in the round of 16 key.
Brazil (Ángela Lavalle / Carolina Horta), meanwhile, dominated
group C by beating 2-0 (21-10, 21-11) to Mexico (Zaira Orellana
/ Marta Revuelta), while Chile (María Rivas / Pilar Mardones)
2-0 (21-10, 21-15) was imposed on Virgin Islands (Melanie
Valenciana / Manniika Charles).
The Brazilians wait for the winner of the game between Canada
and Colombia.
The United States (Jace Pardon / Karissa Cook) won 2-o (22-20,
21-14) to Colombia (Yuly Ayala / Diana Ríos), and was the best
in group B. Costa Rica (Valeria Valenciano / Marcela Araya) won
2-0 (21-18, 22-20) to Trinidad and Tobago (Malika Davidson /
Rheeza Grant), ranking third.
Paraguay and Mexico will define who will face the United States
in quarters. |
