Cuba, Puerto Rico, Colombia and Jamaica wait for rivals in
Quarterfinals
BARRANQUILLA. July 28, 2018. Jamaica surprised to Mexico and
advanced as the first of group D in the women's beach tournament
of the XXIII Central American and Caribbean Games, where Cuba,
Puerto Rico and Colombia have the other tickets for the
quarterfinals.
Kai Wright/Sashalee Wallen, of Jamaica, beat the Mexican Zaira
Orellana/Martha Revuelta 21-18, 23-21, and now they are waiting
in the quarterfinals for the winners between Venezuela and
Dominican Republic.
Yuli Ayala/Diana Rios, from Colombia, were leaders of pool A,
and wait in the quarterfinals to Mexico or Trinidad and Tobago.
The Colombians easily won 21-11, 21-13 to Ileann Powery/Marissa
Harrison from the Cayman Islands.
Mailen Deliz/Leila Martínez, from Cuba, won 21-10, 21-9 to
Marissa Brady/Jarisa Hynd, from Honduras and will face to the
winner between Guatemala and El Salvador, both country were
second places of their respective groups.
Puertoricans Allanis Navas/Maria Gonzalez to stay first to pool
D. They had no problems to overcome 21-17, 21-9 to Estefanie
Bethancourth/Natalia Girón from Guatemala, waiting in the
quarterfinals for the winner between Nicaragua and Honduras.
Nicaragua with Swan Mendoza/Socorro López, definition of group E
by winning 21-16, 21-17 at María Fernanda Vargas/Kathya Vásquez,
from El Salvador.
Norisbeth Agudo / Gabriela Brito, of Venezuela, beat 21-3, 21-7
to Dionelys Delgado/Yamileth Montenegro, of Panama, occupying
the top of group F, with Trinidad and Tobago in second.
This Monday will play the matches of the 12 teams round, in
search of the four available in Quarterfinals, starting at 10:00
a.m. at Puerta del Sol Convention Center. The quarterfinals
matches will be play at 3:00 p.m..
In addition, the games of the consolation round of place 13 to
22 will be held.
